THE growing success of a Hereford gardening charity has enabled clients to cook their produce in new facilities.
Herefordshire Growing Point, based at Holme Lacy College, held the grand opening of a new kitchen with 80 guests.
The charity helps more than 260 people with varying disabilities and the elderly, with therapeutic gardening sessions every month.
The charity works with the message Keep on Gardening and its tutors visit day centres throughout the county, as well as residential homes.
Many different groups work in the demonstration garden and they have been able to cook meals from their own vegetables in the new kitchen.
It marks the end of a successful year for the charity, which raised £14,000 at an event held in June by Audley and Caroline Twiston-Davies at The Mynde. However, the charity stresses that it relies primarily on donations and will continue to fund-raise to ensure vulnerable people may continue to learn new and therapeutic gardening skills.
