On 22 June 1402 during the battle of Battle Pilleth/Bryn Glas, the Welsh forces of Owain Glyndwr defeated the English forces of Sir Edmund Mortimer, Lord of the March; the Welsh force went on to sack and burn Leominster. The property is located within the parish of Whitton, which is a small village a mile to the east of the property situated near the market town of Knighton, and 4 miles from Presteigne.
