Simon Mulligan is a senior reporter primarily covering news for the St Helens Star and Leigh Journal with a decade of experience in local and regional journalism. Simon works on news stories for the publications' online and print platforms, reporting on general news and covering topics including crime, court, human interest stories, business stories, planning developments and more. He has significant experience in covering cases at Liverpool Crown Court and has played a key role in the growth of the news titles' digital platforms. Simon is also adept at covering sport, particularly rugby league. Simon began working for the publications in July 2014 after having done a placement while studying for his NCTJ qualification, in which he achieved the Gold Standard. Simon became a senior reporter in 2016, following the completion of his NQJ qualification, and is also an English graduate from the University of Liverpool.
