IF you would like to know the connection between William Penn, Pennsylvania and Gerrards Cross, perhaps a visit to High Wycombe's museum would be helpful.

The Prophecy of Peace is a recently opened exhibition at the Priory Avenue Museum in Castlefield, High Wycombe.

It celebrates the life and times of William Penn, who died at Jordans near Gerrards Cross in 1718.

William Penn was among the founding members of the Quaker movement in the 17th century, which battled against religious persecution and misunderstanding.

American Quaker clothing and memorablia including a charter issued by William Penn, are on display.

"It has been very popular so far and is well worth a visit as it shows an aspect of our local history and community," said James Rattue, Wycombe Museum's officer.

"I feel it is of particular interest to anyone interested in religious history and art."

The exhibition runs until May 27 and admission is free.
