DESPITE the weather turning colder members of Ross-on-Wye GC ladies’ section have been busy during October with a month packed full of competitions with member Penny Caves showing her fine form to take a string of wins.
Lady captain Ellie Teasdale held her Invitation Charity Bowmaker Coffee Morning which attracted a good field of 66 ladies playing.
The winners of the competition were Fiona Hutton, Kerry Brimfield and Elizabeth Lloyd from Brickhampton with 42 points.
In second place was Mabel Day, Judith Landau, and Jill Sutton with 37 points and in third place was Audrey Causon, June Savidge and Sue Tamblyn with 36 points.
This was followed by an Am Am Stableford which was won by Dorothy Green, Denise Laird, Lorraine Fenner and Jennifer Freel with 74 points.
Sixteen ladies played in the nine-hole Am Am Stableford which was won by by Penny Caves, Christine Downs , Mary Palmer and Joan Punnett with 40 points.
The Taylor Cup and October Medal was played by 32 ladies and was won by Sue Johnson with a nett score of 78.
Sally Fycun won the medal competition with a nett score of 75.
The Back 9 Medal was played by 11 Ladies and Caves kept up her winning form with a nett score of 36.
A Ladies Medalford was played by 27 ladies when Lois Price won the competion with 19.
This was followed by the Front 9 Bowmaker Stableford which was again won by Caves and her team Chris Crane and Mary Palmer with 32 points on countback from Frances Nightingale, Jill Sutton and Jennifer Thornton.
The final October competition was a Ladies Medal Salver which was won by Jennifer Freel with a nett score of 78.
