VANDALS have struck at a Herefordshire golf club by driving a car across two of the course’s greens.
Allan Williams, a greenkeeper at Kington Golf Club, said people had driven a car around the 11th and 9th greens of the course – the highest in England.
He said the vandals struck on Friday evening (November 26), and that police had been informed.
"We've had people trespass on the course before, but we've never had damage to the extent of this," Mr Williams said.
"There are tyre marks all over the green."
Kington Golf Club is at Bradnor Hill, one mile north of Kington.
Earlier this year, it was named as one of Today's Golfer and Golf World's top 100 courses in England.
Judges said: “It’s fast-draining heathland terrain means it is playable all year round.
“The biggest allure is Cecil Hutchison’s intriguing design, fitting the holes – especially the greens – into the land.”
At 1,284 feet above sea level, it is also England's highest golf course.
