AFTER being handed a place in the North Midlands Vase Plate final Greyhound will be looking to make it a league and cup double this weekend.

They face Yardley & District in Sunday's final at Dudley Kingswinford on Sunday (11.15am).

Their opponents will sit in the same tier as Greyhound in the rugby pyramid next season, after their championship winning campaign will see the Hereford Racecourse based side move into Midlands 4 next season.

Greyhound were due to play Church Stretton on Saturday in the semi-final but the visitors were handed victory as their hosts couldn't raise a team.

Speaking about the final Kevin Murphy, vice captain said: "It should be a good game and all the boys are excited and it will top off a good season after being crowned champions of our league.

"To win the vase would be a little bonus on top. We have a lot of young guys coming through so hopefully we can do it again. A lot of our players have never played in a final before and we have never faced Yardley & District before but I've heard they are a good team with big forwards and strong runners.

"Hopefully we can match that as we have good running backs as well."

Meanwhile Ross-on-Wye are also looking to clinch the treble and cap an emphatic season which has seen them win all 22 league matches and clinch the Forest of Dean combination cup last weekend with a 44-17 victory over Berry Hill 1sts.

They face Dudley Wasps in the North Midlands Plate this Sunday to complete the clean sweep.
