AFTER 29 league games Luctonians know that they need a bonus point victory against Champions Sale to retain their place in the National League 2 North.

A run of four wins on the bounce has seen Ryan Watkins side recover from what looked like certain relegation.

However, they will need to scored four or more tries for a bonus point victory against Sale at Mortimer Park on Saturday (2.15pm) or their efforts will be in vein.

“We need a five points win and they have just won the league so it couldn’t be a bigger game,” said head coach Watkins.

“We have built up some momentum and are playing some really good rugby. They are going to be hard to break down but we have to score four tries. We have absolutely everything to play for and it’s at our place with a huge support which will hopefully carry us through it.

“I’m confident we can do it and we’ve come this far so it would be shame if we don’t. I imagine it will be the biggest crowd this season or for some time so it will be a great atmosphere.

“We looked done and dusted so it would be a shame to come this far and not complete the job. It is in our hands. The most disappointing this is that it has taken this scenario to turn our season around.

“We are fit and skilful but it has been hard to impose that on sticky pitches and turn big packs around.

“They will also be a big side and have had a lot of success. Hopefully they had their party two weeks ago when winning the league and this Saturday will be our turn.
