ALMOST 500 school children from primary schools across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Powys and Worcestershire attended the annual Tag Rugby Festival at Luctonians Sports Club recently.

The 15th year of the festival saw 40 teams from 24 schools in attendance as part of the club's community coaching programme.

The day-long event was hugely competitive across the board, with Wigmore Primary School running out eventual winners beating Burghill Primary in the Cup Final five tries to three.

Other winners on the day were: Burford Primary who beat Presteigne Primary in the Plate Final, Trinity Primary who defeated Pembridge Primary in the Bowl Final, and Clifford Primary who beat Lindridge Primary in the Vase Final.

Guy Kirkby, Luctonians Community Coaching Programme Coordinator said: “We are delighted with the number of boys and girls who took part in the Tagfest this year.

"The quality of the festival goes up year on year and it's a great introduction to the sport for many children. Thank you to all the schools who attended and to the volunteer coaches who helped referee on the day.”
