ROSS Team Manager Keith Scrivens is targetting a league and cup double as his side remain unbeaten in both competitions.

His side clinched promotion out of the Wadworth 6X Gloucester 2 division with six games to spare which was followed by a North Midlands Vase semi-final victory last weekend.

Scrivens' team ran over four tries during a 37-7 victory over Redditch last weekend to book their place in the final.

"It's unbelievable to clinch promotion by the end of February and be in a Vase final," said Scrivens.

"In previous years we have had a hard battle against Redditch, they kept battling in the second half and didn't give up."

Dan Field opened the scoring for Ross-on-Wye before Pj Muldowney, Josh Element and Marcus Barnard added further tries.

Ross, who are nine points clear of second place Smiths Rugby, are back in action this weekend at home to Minchinhampton.

"Our aim is still to finish as champions so we can't get complacent as we have a few games left so we can't let it slip, added Scrivens.

"Minchinhampton provided a tough battle up there and we don't know what team they will bring. We are confident of winning the league and going up as champions but know it is not already done."

Meanwhile Hereford bounced back from last weekend's defeat by scoring nine tries during a 57-22 victory over Stourbridge Lions.

However, it was the visitors who opened the scoring only for Hereford to respond with three tries within 20 minutes from Luke Yarranton, James Stubbs and Gareth Jones to give them a 19-8 lead at the break.

Hereford were playing some great attacking football and in the second period ran in six further tries by Tom Starkey, Leon Parsons (2), Richard Jones, Lewis Turner and Tom Ewins.

The victory delighted Head Coach Sean Lynn who said “This was a positive reaction to last week’s game, the boys stuck to the structure we’ve been talking about and defensively we got our line speed right.

"We knew the Lions would want to run a lot of ball and credit to them, you can see why they are sixth in the league, they play some nice rugby."
