Dan Evans followed up his victory over defending champion Frances Tiafoe by beating Lloyd Harris for the loss of only two games to reach the quarter-finals of the Delray Beach Open.

The 28-year-old has had a strong start to the season as he continues to work his way back towards the top 100 less than a year after returning from a one-year ban for cocaine use.

Evans edged a tight contest against American Tiafoe in round one on Tuesday but was utterly dominant in a 6-0 6-2 win over South African Harris and will face sixth seed Andreas Seppi for a place in the last four.

Cameron Norrie was unable to match Evans after losing to Spain’s Jaume Munar in an epic clash at the Rio Open.

With all but one of the seeds having lost in the opening round, this was a big opportunity for both men to make a deep run at a tournament offering significant points.

Norrie recovered from a set down and then 2-5 in the final set to force a deciding tie-break but was edged out 7-6 (6) 5-7 7-6 (4) after three hours and 19 minutes.
