A DOMINANT performance from Leominster saw them thrash county rivals Hereford 8-1 in De Cymru & The Marches 1 of the GoCrea8 Hockey League.

Dan Petrie and Nicko Evans opened up a 2-0 lead at half-time before the floodgates really opened after the break.

Petrie went on to complete a hat-trick, with Evans again on target.

Steve Dobson also scored twice, with Shaun Hill netting Leominster's other goal.

In the dying seconds, Andy Rogers scored a well taken consultation goal for Hereford.

The win leaves Leominster handily placed in second, while Hereford are second from bottom.

Bottom of the pile are Ross, who go to Hereford this Saturday.

However, they will be in buoyant mood following an excellent 3-0 win over Whitchurch Seconds and they will overtake Hereford with a win.

Hereford Seconds managed to pick up a win though thanks to a 1-0 victory over Newent Seconds in The Marches 1, while in The Marches 2, Leominster Seconds hammered Cirencester Fourths 5-1 and Ross Seconds drew 0-0 with Lansdown Fourths.

In the West Clubs' Women's League, Hereford are now four points clear at the top of North Division after beating North Wilts 3-1, while Leominster went down 4-1 to Royal Wooton Bassett.

Hereford Seconds were thrashed by Cheltenham Thirds though in Severn Division 1, while in Severn Division 2, Ross and Colwall & Malvern both drew their matches.

Colwall & Malvern Seconds lost 1-0 at home to Stroud Thirds in Severn Division 3.

Meanwhile, in Premier 1 of the South Wales Hockey League, Presteigne lost 1-0 to Haverfordwest, while in Division 1, Kington drew 1-1 with Carmarthen.
