FOR the first time in Ross Golf Club's history, both the men and lady champions are home grown teenagers.

Cam Haines, 17, plays off a three handicap, while 18-year-old Sophie Price plays off an eight and was also lady champion in 2015 when she was junior captain prior to handing over to Haines.

Ross have seen a surge in teenage talent at the club, which was helped in the 'investment in young people' policy that was into introduced six years ago when PGA head professional Tim Hall was appointed.

The changes in coaching that Hall has initiated thanks to his 'School of Golf' network has seen continuous improvement and provided opportunities for many people.

Harry Griffiths, 14, now plays off a five handicap after starting on a 28 three years ago.

Last year, he won two junior cups and the Gloucestershire County Unions Jeff Hall Trophy, making him the top under 14-year-old player in Gloucestershire.

Liam Greig, 16, also moved to Ross Golf Club to take advantage of the Juniors Academy coaching and has seen his handicap tumble from 16 to six in just 12 months.

This has led to him claiming a host of trophies, including the most improved player of the year.

At the club's annual general meeting in March, Greig will be installed as juniors captain and preside over a flourishing section.
