THE inaugural Ladies Open at Alexander Park was held to celebrate the three-year anniversary of the course.

The maiden contest, the bowmaker competition, was won by a team from South Herefordshire and featured 108 ladies.

“It exceeded all my expectations, considering the course has only been open officially for three years. I could not ask for more," said joint ladies captain Val Bland.

Alexander Park came second after losing to the victors following a count back, with Kendleshire finishing third and Ross fourth.

The competition signified the impressive growth of the course and club, especially within the ladies section as they look to expand over the years to com.

“The comments I have received after the game were so positive," added Bland.

"The staff were so welcoming, the food was superb and all wanted to return for next year.

“Lots of planning went into making the competition fun so all golfing abilities could take part to encourage new players to the game."
