JAMES Febery says he's glad to be back in first team reckoning at Westfields, although he was disappointed his side could not claim a win against AFC Wulfrunians in the Midland Football League Premier Division.

The defender nodded home a header to equalise for the city side at allpay.park, only to see Wulfrunians net a late winner.

"I have been out of the team recently, but now Gloves [Phil Glover] is suspended, I have come back and have played well," said Febery.

"I went to Pegasus for a midweek game against Bromyard just to get some minutes under my belt before coming back.

"I feel fit and have been doing some stuff outside of football while training with Westfields.

"I have been patient and have taken my chance."

Febery felt Westfields had plenty of opportunities to beat Wulfrunians, but the conditions didn't help.

"For the last three games, they have been boggy pitches which doesn't help our style of play," said Febery.

"We also had a few players out, like Phil Glover and Aidan Thomas through suspension and our main striker, Richard Greaves, who was away, which didn't help.

"We had the majority of possession, we just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net.

"It was nice to score and make it 1-1, it was just a shame that we couldn't get the second goal to win the game."

Wulfrunians enjoyed good periods of play in the first half, but it was Westfields who had the early opportunities, however Ben Hayes and Jamie Molyneux both missed.

The away side then took the lead in the 38th minute through a Jake Webb penalty after Febery bundled over Nick Turton.

Westfields came back strongly in the second half and, after a series of attacks, Febery headed home a corner in the 68th minute.

The home side then got on top, but wasted a glorious chance when Hayes headed against the crossbar from six yards out and Craig Jones firing over when well placed.

Those misses proved costly when Turton raced away from half the length of the field to beat Alex Harris in the home goal with eight minutes remaining.

Westfields tried to equalise again, but were met by a resolute defence.

This Saturday, Westfields make the short trip to face relegation threatened Shawbury United at Ludlow before back-to-back games against Highgate United.
