WESTFIELDS joint manager Andy Bevan is delighted to have goalkeeper Alex Harris on board.

Harris has joined the allpay.park side following his release from Hereford and started for Westfields in their 2-1 defeat to Midland League Premier Division pacesetters Coleshill Town on Monday night.

"Keiron Blackburn was away so we didn't really have a keeper," explained Bevan.

"So that is why we got Alex in.

"He was very dominant in the area and is a keeper who is big and strong.

"He is a lad who [Hereford manager] Pete Beadle spoke very highly of, he just said that needs to got out and get some games."

Westfields performed well against Coleshill and were unlucky not to get anything from the game.

"We're disappointed we only scored one goal after having nine shots on target and 60% possession, although we did have two goals disallowed," added Bevan.

"Getting out of this league is hard, especially having these midweek matches.

"Some of the lads didn't arrive at the ground until 7.05pm, but you've just got to get on with it.

"They couldn't have done any more and played really well."

Coleshill won the game 15 minutes from time when Reece Leek struck home a rebound after Harris had initially saved a penalty.

Bevan was disappointed with the decision to award the penalty after Kane Kahaki was adjudged to have handled the ball as he jumped for the ball.

"I don't like talking about referee's but he had a poor performance," said Bevan.

"All we ask for is some consistency and it's disappointing when the boys have played so well."

Aidan Thomas – who opened the scoring for Westfields shortly in the second half – was also sent off at the end of the game for foul and abusive language.

"I'm not condoning what Aidan did but their lad should have been booked for kicking the ball away and then got booked for swearing at the linesman, yet ours gets sent off after the final whistle," said Bevan.

Coleshill equalised thanks to a great strike from Mike Tymon before Leek won the game.

Westfields now have back-to-back home games as the look to climb the table.

First up is Heanor Town on Saturday, followed by Worcester City next Wednesday.

One player who has left Westfields though is winger Carlos Moriera.

The former Hereford and Pegasus Juniors player has joined West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division high-fliers Malvern Town in order to get more game time.

"It's a shame because I didn't want him to go," added Bevan.

"I thought he was making a mistake because I think he will learn more with us.

"His goalscoring return was good for us, but he wanted more games, which I understand.

"He was a great addition to the team and I wish him well."
