WESTFIELDS' season was summed up on Saturday when they could only draw 3-3 against strugglers Quorn in Midland Football League Division.

Sean Edwards' side had to come from behind three times to get anything from the game against a side whom they had thrashed 6-0 three weeks' previously,

Quorn took the lead mid-way through the first half when Matt Sysum was penalised for a foul in the penalty area and Nathan Dale scored the resulting spot-kick.

However, Westfields drew level before the break when Aidan Thomas crossed for Ben Hayes to fire home.

Back came Quorn though, who re-took the lead after the interval.

Westfields failed to clear a corner and the ball bounced nicely for Daniel Chapman to score from six yards out.

In a topsy-turvy game, Westfields again equalised when Mark Magee tucked away a penalty after Thomas' cross was handled by Rob Mulunga in the box.

But Quorn would not go away and they went 3-2 up just six minutes later.

Phil Glover tried to clear the ball, but his clearance hit Quorn striker Dominic Brennan, who slotted the ball home.

However, Westfields did manage to claim a point when Jamie Molyneux swept the ball past the home goalkeeper from 12 yards.

Earlier in the game, Westfields should have been two or three ahead when Thomas and Molyneux both had great opportunities, along with Craig Jones, but they squandered the chances.

Westfields have now only won half of their 16 league games and will be looking for maximum points from three home games over the festive period in order to climb the table.

On Saturday, they entertain Loughborough University before Shawbury United are the visitors on Boxing Day.

Then on Saturday, December 30, leaders Sporting Khalsa come to allpay.park in Westfields' final game of the year.

Meanwhile in Division Three, Bartestree lost 3-1 at home to Inkberrow; Louis Mann scoring their goal.
