HEREFORD have signed former Chester City marksman Harry White but manager Pete Beadle accepts that departed striker John Mills is 'irreplaceable'.

White, 24, started out as a member of the Coventry City Academy, before moving to Barnsley and has since made over 100 appearances in the National League structure including spells at Kidderminster Harriers, Boreham Wood and Solihull Moors.

His arrival comes a week after leading goalscorer Mills and Pablo Haysham decided to leave the club after failing to agree terms for the coming season.

"John and Pablo are going to be a big loss as they have been with us since day one and with what they bring to the team and around the club and changing room but these things happen in football," said Beadle.

"Of course we will keep an eye on what they do, it is disappointing to see them go but we have got to move on. Of course people look at the signing of Harry White as a replacement for John (Mills) but he is irreplaceable with a goal record like that. Harry is a different type of centre-forward to John (Mills) where as Lance (Smith) and Mike (Symons) are different forwards again.

"Keyon (Reffell), Jennison (Myrie-Williams) and Lewis (Hall) can also play forwards so we have plenty of goals in the team and hopefully we can share them out. People think Harry is the new John Mills but he is not, there is only one John Mills.

"Harry wants to come in and kick-start his career. He had a fantastic start and for whatever reason it has not worked. He has dropped down from Barnsley, they saw the potential in him and so do we, he is a great addition to the squad.

"We want the right players for this group to keep us moving forwards. If you look at the squad it is already hugely exciting and I'm looking forwards to meeting with the players next week as a group."

Hereford have also made the addition of former Gloucester City captain Kieran Thomas to the defensive line while midfielder Eliot Richards has also re-signed ahead of the team commencing pre-season training on Tuesday night.

The club still awaiting the decision of goalkeeper Will Puddy about his future.

"We are really pleased with the squad and are pretty much done with everything and are looking good," Beadle added.

"Our additions are young players with a lot of potential and have played at the level we are going into or the one above. We are always looking for players with potential and the right character and having certain ingredients to play for a club like this one.

"It doesn't matter where these players have come from if they have got the right character. Hopefully we can get one more player which is in the pipeline so hopefully we have a new face still to come."
