HEREFORD manager Pete Beadle says that the club should remain in the Herefordshire County Cup next season despite his team sailing to a 6-0 victory over Lads Club to lift the trophy for a third year on the bounce.

The Bulls always looked in control of the tie and marksman John Mills opened the scoring on the 12th minute firing home a Rob Purdie corner.

Mills saw his 29th minute effort blocked on line by Matt Maturi before Jennison Myrie-Williams netted the rebound.

As the Lads Club tired in the blistering temperature during the second half and Hereford piled on the pressure Jordan Liburd made it three from close range before substitute Mike Symons netted from a tight angle.

It took Mills until the 82nd minute to score his targeted 40th goal of the season neatly finishing on the turn from a Symons pass.

Beadle's side completed the route into injury time when Mills' shot was saved into the path of Dara O'Shea

"A credit to both sets of players for keep going in that heat today was really hard work," said Beadle.

"Both teams showed the difference in the leagues where they are but also why they have been successful over the last couple of years.

"They have been extremely organised and shown a never say die attitude. Unfortunately they have come up against a team who are just streets ahead of everybody at the moment.

"If it had been against anybody else it would have been far more but the way they kept going was brilliant.

"Second half you could tell the difference in the quality when everybody got tired but for their enthusiasm I hope they've enjoyed their day.

On their route to the final Hereford beat Westfields 2-1, Tenbury United 15-1 and Ewyas Harold 7-0.

When asked if Hereford plan to take part in the competition again next year, Beadle added: "The format is pretty good and gives a lot of local teams a chance to come and play at Edgar Street which is fantastic.

"We want to be a community based club and try and help as many local teams as we can. Although, the higher we go it becomes a little bit difficult to keep supplying players for them because the players are playing at a higher level.

"There is a possibility it comes to us playing the winners as pre-season but we actually enjoy the competition and it's nice to have different teams come down.

"We have had some hefty victories but I'm sure every team who has played here thoroughly enjoyed their night here.

"As a community club we want to try and embrace all the community and if that means we take part in this competition for me it's great as it's three games and you can always slide a suspension in there to manipulate it that way.

"We are part of HFA so should therefore take part in this competition."

In preparation for the cup final, attended by 735 fans, the Hereford players went for a holiday following their last league game against St Ives Town this week.

"Our players have been away for four days, they came back into training on Saturday and I was worrying about today, added Beadle.

"But they deserved to let their hair down and have a go for it because it's a hugely emotionally charged season at this club."
