AFTER serving his three match suspension Ryan Green will be hoping to return to the side during tomorrow night's visit to Hitchin Town.

The 37-year-old central defender, from South Wales, was disappointed to be given a straight red card against Redditch United which meant he had to watch from the side-lines as his team-mates clinched promotion.

"I'm disappointed not to be playing but it has been a fantastic season as a whole," said Green.

"The King's Lynn Town (away 3-2 defeat) game gave us a little bit of a kick up the back-side to be honest and we went on a fantastic run from that with loads of clean sheets so hopefully we can finish the season on a high.

"I was gutted to be sent off, I think the ball was there to be won and two years ago I would have got away with that, but you can't really tackle now and that's the way it is.

"I've seen yellows given for that, reds given and nothing given so it could have gone either way."

Green, who was named player of the season, was one of the players alongside Rob Purdie that manager Pete Beadle brought in when Hereford FC was formed after previously playing 100 matches for Hereford United.

"I have played with him for eight years at this club through highs and lows," said Green.

"He is a fantastic lad on and off the field so he will be sorely missed. I had confidence that we would get here as we've had a good team and (Pete) Beadle got the right people on board and is a good judge of character so the club his knitted well together.

"Hopefully we can get another one next season as well. I'm hoping to be involved, I will speak at the end of the season and hopefully set out for next year.

"I would definitely prefer the Southern Division as there is enough travelling as it is for me so I'm counting on King's Lynn or Kettering to win the play-offs."
