A last gasp Mike McGrath header earned Hereford a vital three points at Bishop’s Stortford to take his side within a win of the league title.

But it was the set pieces of Rob Purdie which caused mayhem in the visitor’s penalty box which led to the goal.

Purdie was our man of the match and here is our match ratings.

Puddy 7- A solid and composed performance and he was left as a spectator for the majority of the match. Was forced into action early on with a save and his quick thinking and release allowed Jennison Myrie-Williams to set up Mike Symons’ who header high.

Oates (c) 7- Another solid performance for the wing back who created problems rushing forwards. He could have been the goal hero finding Rob Purdie’s free-kick unmarked but sent his effort over.

Pring 7- Looked assured at the back and added an attacking element.

Richards 7- An inch perfect cross which picked out Pablo Haysham to head against the bar. Tried his luck from long range which we have seen in a few matches but failed to trouble the goalkeeper. Made way on 73 minutes for McGrath.

O'Shea 7- Came in for the suspended Green and had a good game against a lively front pairing who had pace and looked dangerous on the counter-attack. Almost fell asleep as Jamie Cureton slipped between the central pairing but was saved by the off-side flag. Picked up a knock not helped by clattering into the advertising boarding and was replaced.

Liburd 8- Composed performance looking better every week in that position. Looks a real physical presence and commanding at the back.

Reffell 7- Led the attack early on with a combination of surging runs. Played his part in everything that was good going forwards for Hereford.

Man of the match- Purdie 9- As expected from Purdie his crosses and free-kicks were once again on point consistently in the right areas for attackers. What he lacks in pace more than makes up for in ability.

Myrie-Williams 7- Earnt the 29th minute penalty after a surging run inside the box. Booked in the 50th minute harshly for leaving a foot in on the defender after a hosts of the home players surrounded the referee. Replaced for striker Mills as Hereford looked for a winner.

Haysham 7- Couldn’t quite get over the ball as he could only head Richards’ cross against the bar and also covered at the back to give the back four some support.

Symons 7- Came in for the injured Lance Smith. Hit his 29th minute penalty poorly and it was easily saved. A constant threat in the air but failed to really connect his efforts. It was his physical presence that led to the sending off of Marvel Ekpiteta.

Subs:

Mills 7- Came on after 65 minutes and made an immediate impact as his presence forced Bishop’s Stortford to put up a defensive wall almost heading Wolves ahead only to be denied by a flying save and then seeing his shot cleared off the line.

McGrath 8- Came on after 73 minutes with the aim of causing havoc in the box and that’s just what he did. Came to Hereford’s rescue with a 91st minute header which sent the team and fans wild.

Deaman 7- Came on for the injured O’Shea after 79 minutes and had nothing to do.
