JENNISON Myrie-Williams said that a nose for goals helped him score a hat-trick as Hereford FC ran out 5-1 winners over Gosport Borough.

The Bulls forward opened the scoring in the first half before bagging a second half brace- all scored from close range.

The 29-year-old who played for Port Vale and Newport County announced his arrivals with a wonder strike against Weymouth and has figured in manager Pete Beadle’s since.

"I was pleased with the goals but most importantly the win,” said Myrie-Williams following the victory.

"It wasn't perfect today but the main thing is that we won and the added bonus was the goals and I was in the right place at the right time and so that's good.

"Three goals that came to me and I was in the right place at the right time and that's not usually me so I just put it away.

"I believe I have got a sniff for goals so I'm delighted with them and to get the win. My first target was to get fit and now it's to kick on and impose myself in games more and help the team to get over the finish line.

"The last couple of games I have been feeling a lot fitter and enjoying the football and enjoy winning and help us get over the line.”

Despite dominating the play early on the Bulls had nothing to show for their efforts and were nearly caught on the break with Joseph Lea dispossessing Billy Murphy before running through on goal before seeing his shot saved.

However, on the 32nd minute Myrie-Williams opened his account when Rob Purdie’s corner found the head of Jimmy Oates and the goalkeeper could only flap the ball onto the forward to prod home.

Hereford continue their pressure with several chances and then four minutes before the break another set-piece found Oates who headed down at the defender before firing home the loose ball.

Gosport stunned Edgar Street when they pulled a goal back on 49 minutes after the break when player/manager Rowan Vine controlled a long ball before firing home.

Two minutes later Myrie-Williams restored his side’s two goal advantage heading a Pablo Haysham cross against the post before beating the last defender and scrapping the rebound home from a tight angle.

The hat-trick was complete after 59 minutes with Oates cutting inside and playing the ball across the face of goal perfectly for the run of Myrie-Williams to simply tap home.

Lance Smith was next in on the goal act hitting his first effort wide before moments later connecting with a Cameron Pring cross to complete the scoring.

Despite Myrie-Williams' start at Edgar Street opinion has been mixed on the forward.

“It’s the same with a lot of forward players they are either a fans favourite or the fans aren’t quite sure about them," added manager Pete Beadle.

“He has only had seven games all season so it is very early in his season for him and he will come good.

“He’s still getting used to the team and had to come down a level or two. So far he’s fitted in great five goals in five games so what’s not to like at the moment.”
