PETE Beadle has urged his players to enjoy their football after returning to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Frome Town.

The Hereford FC manager called the back-to-back defeats against King's Lynn Town and Basingstoke Town a 'little speed bump' as they increased their gap at the top of the Evo-Stik Southern Premier thanks to a John Mills strike.

He said: "We have hit a little bit of a speed bump in the last couple of weeks but a clean sheet at home and three points on the board, what more do you want?

“It wasn’t a classic at times and it was a bit nervy. I’ve said to the players that they’ve got to enjoy this and this is to be embraced, we are four points clear with a game in hand and it’s all in our hands.

“This is the last bit and the run in which they need to enjoy and they walked off to the supporters like they lost the game.

“Think about the bigger picture we are exactly where we want to be. Saturday was a shock to the system and we have bounced back a bit today."

Following their defeat at the weekend Hereford started slowly and the visitors looked the most likely to take the lead with Darren Jefferies shooting wide before seeing another effort save.

However, Beadle's side played their way into the tie and sent a warning sign with Keyon Reffell cutting inside before rattling the post.

Jennison Myrie-Williams was next to challenge the goalkeeping almost connecting with a Reffell through ball, but a charging Kyle Phillips denied him.

John Mills broke the deadlock forcing the goalkeeper into a save and with the rebound hitting several players his striker's instinct saw him fire home on the 36th minute.

Despite having the odd opening The Robins failed to challenge Martin Horsell's goal and at the other end Elliot Richards tested the opposing goalkeeper.

Jonno Davies remained a threat for Frome and almost silenced Edgar Street with 16 minutes remaining after running through on goal but sending his shot wide.

Hereford also had chances to settle the tie with Jack Deaman rising highest before misdirecting his header from a corner.

The match was settled when the visitors went down to 10 men with Jefferies given his marching orders for something said to the referee allowing Hereford to see the match out.
