WELLINGTON manager Derek Williams was disappointed that his side only drew 2-2 against county rivals Pegasus Juniors.

Williams felt his side did enough to win the game, but conceded a draw was probably a fair result.

"We're not pleased with a point but after they have missed a penalty you've got to be happy in the end," said Williams.

"I thought we were in control in the first half but we were 2-0 down.

"But once again we stumble.

"It was a strange game because we created so many chances that you couldn't really fault our play.

"We just weren't getting on the end of it in the last third.

"But fair play to the boys, we got right back into the game and you think we're going to win it.

"But once again we stumble and they get a penalty but miss it.

"Overall though I think a draw was a fair result."

Pegasus opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Hyde expertly converted following a deep right-wing cross.

A cross from Matt Williams failed to find any of his teammates as Wellington looked to get back into the game before Paul Allam blocked a pull-back from Josh Hunt.

Pegasus made Welly pay for those missed chances when Hyde found strike partner Tom Boyle, who made it 2-0 in the 31st minute.

It was almost 3-0 two minutes later, but Hyde hit a post with a low shot, while Boyle shot over.

Wellington regrouped after the break and pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in the 54th minute thanks to Paul Jones.

Hyde had a great chance to make it 3-1 to Pegasus, but Nick Williams did brilliantly to prevent him from scoring after the Pegasus striker rounded goalkeeper Matt Apperley.

Wellington then pulled the scored level in the 64th minute thanks to an expertly taken free-kick from Will Perkins.

Pegasus had a chance to grab a late winner though, but Anthony Robbins saw his penalty hit the crossbar and both sides had to settle for a point.
