WESTFIELDS came from behind to clinch a 2-2 draw against Coventry United thanks to an 80th minute goal from captain Phil Glover

Westfields worked hard throughout the game with teenagers Carlos Moreira and Kingsford Adjei particularly impressive on the two flanks.

However, it was Coventry who took the lead on the half hour through Ryan Palmer who seized on a defensive error to go through unchallenged and beat the advancing Keiron Blackburn.

Blackburn then produced three stunning saves to keep Fields in the game before his side drew level when neat movement down the right hand side with swift interchanging passes between Moreira and Adjei found Mark Magee at the far post who fired into the bottom corner.

However, right on the stroke of half time Westfields’ defence got in a tangle and with the team appealing for off-side Ryan Palmer went through unchallenged to beat Blackburn to give Coventry a 2-1 interval lead.

Blackburn again produced two full length saves to prevent the home side increasing their lead before Glover headed home the equaliser.

Westfields then sent on substitute Ben Hayes, who alongside Moreira continued to produce crosses and late in the game Glover was unlucky not to secure the three points, but for a splendid save before another effort was cleared off the Coventry line as Westfields looked like securing the three points.

Westfields travel to Leicestershire tonight (Thursday) to play Shepshed Dynamo.
