KINGSTONE Rovers took their first step towards a league and cup double by clinching the HFA Junior Cup.
The Division One league leaders ran out 4-2 victory over Division Two leaders Bartestree Reserves at Allpay Park on Saturday.
Rovers started on the front foot taking the lead within 60 seconds when a ball over the top found Stuart Mills who flicked it over the oncoming goalkeeper.
Chris James' side doubled their lead before the break with Ashley day firing home following a goalmouth scramble.
The cup looked won when James Pritchard's diving header steered his side into a 3-0 lead.
However, the younger Bartestree side took advantage of the tiring leaders and hit back firstly through an own goal and then Paul Monteith guided his team back to 3-2.
Substitute Jason Griffin killed off an grandstand finish hitting his his shot first time into the bottom corner.
Kingstone need a single point to wrap up the league title and play second place Hinton on Saturday.
"At 2-0 up at half-time I said that the next goal was crucial and we got it," said James.
"Obviously we started to tire as they are a bit younger than us and the conditions didn't help as it was extremely hot. Hopefully it is the start of a great week as we can win the league on Saturday.
"We are all going out for the double."
