BROTHERS Ben and James Febery led the attack for Colwall but couldn't stop their side suffering a three-wicket defeat by the hands of Evesham.

After electing to bat opener Ben Febery reached 41 runs and helped his side to 85-3 as Colwall looked to set a substantial target in their Worcestershire League Division One fixture.

Despite Fergus Cameron adding 29 he quickly ran out of batting partners before being bowled and caught by Sadam Khan as the hosts fell to 158 all out.

Despite the efforts of Ben Febery 3-48 and James Febery 4-54 restricting the visitor's batsman the visitors eventually reached their target finishing on 162-7.

It was Colwall's second defeat of the season after also losing to Stourport-On-Severn last weekend.

"Our bowlers got us back into the game and we had them struggling but just let it go," said Colwall captain Ben Cooke.

"We had a couple of batters who were unlucky to get out including our young opener Ben Febery and James Waters (23 runs) who is our new lad at number three.

"We had a great start but then suffered a little bit of a collapse. At the start of the season we were hoping for a top five finish aim but it will be a tough one as there are a lot of good sides in our league.

"Once we get our university players back and a couple of new players who work at Malvern College we will be there or there about."

Elsewhere in Division One, Burghill, Tillington and Weobley remain bottom following a seven-wicket defeat by Bewdley with Clive Chadhani top scoring on 31.

High-flying Bromyard made it three wins on the bounce with a three-wicket victory over fellow promotion hopefuls Belbroughton.

Josh Van Rensburg was again on form with the ball taking 3-41 as Belbroughton reached 176-8 off their 50 overs. In reply Zahid Saeed hit a half-century and David Taylor an unbeaten 43 as they reached their target with five overs remaining.

Elsewhere Wormelow suffered a 112 runs defeat by Kempsey while Bartestree & Lugwardine held on for a losing draw against Coombs Wood.
