AN open trial session is to be held next weekend for people to play for Brockhampton Ladies.

The village side will play in West Division 2B having finished second in the Gloucestershire T20 League.

“This was a great friendly league to start us off but now we feel we are ready to progress and move on to a higher level,” said player-manager Anna Robertson.

“We have more girls playing cricket in Herefordshire and we want to help provide a clear pathway for the girls that are coming through to give them more opportunities to play women’s cricket.

"With the England Women wining team of the year at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards, it's really going to help inspire more girls and women into the sport and Brockhampton Ladies are encouraging existing and new players to get involved."

Brockhampton will pit their wits against Kenilworth Wardens, Berkswell Seconds, Earlswood, Five Ways Seconds and Old Elizabethans, with matches taking place on non-county Sundays from April to September.

The trial will be at Whitecross High School from 10am to midday next Sunday (February 4).
