SOUTH Wye Police Boxing Academy have received national accreditation from Sports England.
An accredited club is recognised as being a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages.
It also helps parents and carers understand that they're choosing a club which has received national accreditation.
The Award is therefore a recognition that the Hinton-based boxing club provides the right environment which ensures the welfare of its members and encourages everyone to enjoy sport and stay involved as far as is possible with sport, throughout their lives.
"We are delighted to receive the National Award," said club chairman Richard Roberts.
"We have received considerable help and support from Bill Longmore, the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Mercia, and his deputy Barrie Sheldon, without which we would not have been able support the many differing groups that use the boxing club and the Hinton Education and Community Centre."
Meanwhile, a boxer who trains at the club made it five wins out of five at a homecoming bout in Ludlow.
Craig Morris overcame Lancashire's William Warburton on points following an eight-round contest.
"The whole night went really well, it was a brilliant occasion," said Morris.
