HEREFORD Tri Club athlete Greg Wisniowski ran a very fast time to claim the annual Wye Valley Runners 10-mile road race.

Wisniowski finished in a time of 57 minutes 52 seconds ahead of Bideford AC's James Pugsley.

In the women's race, Kenilworth veteran Louise Andrews won in the time of 74:23 and was 14th overall.

The Breinton event also featured the Herefordshire 10-Mile County Championships for athletes either living or born in the county.

Steven Flowers, of host club Wye Valley Runners, took the senior male prize with Croft Ambrey's Kelly Bowen picking up the women's category.

Flowers finished a very respectable time of 1:03.55, with Bowen coming home in 1:15.22/

The race was one again held in memory of former Wye Valley member Tom Pugsley, who died five years ago following a cycling accident.

The trophy is awarded to the fastest athlete aged under 21, with this year's prize going to Croft Ambrey's Will Gore.

The next Wye Valley Runners road race is the New Year's Day 10k.

Entries will be open for that race at the end of November.
