Solihull Moors 1 Westfields 1.
WESTFIELDS produced a hard-working display away at Blue Square Conference North side Solihull Moors to earn a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup second round qualifying game.
Westfields gave an inspired performance with keeper Jamie Moore and midfielder Sam Gwynne producing superb displays.
Solihull Moors were rocked in the first minute when Scott Jackson got on the end of a Craig Jones’ corner and his shot was cleared off the line by their player-manager Marcus Bignot.
In the second minute, Richard Kear prodded the ball home from a Gwynne corner to give Westfields a dream start.
Then Jackson cleared a Danny Spencer shot off the Westfields’ goal-line after Moore had punched clear a Bignot cross.
Solihull were reduced to 10 men when defender Stuart Pierpoint was red-carded after pulling back Westfields’ dangerman Richard Kear as the ex-Cheltenham Town striker raced through.
But being down to 10 men did not deter Solihull and when Jones was penalised for a foul on Bignot, Ryan Boswick floated in a free-kick which Omar Bogle headed home in the 37th minute.
After the break, Solihull pressurised and Moore saved acrobatically from Tom Kemp. Then, Westfields saw a Jamie Cuss 20-yard shot go close. Moore saved Westfields, keeping out a thundering shot from Andy Gooding and making a great double save to keep out a Ryan Beswick shot and the rebound.
Late on, Westfields had a good penalty shout turned down after Carl Morgan was sent sprawling.
