Ross MOORE is the new champion of Kington Golf Club after winning in windy conditions.

He shot a gross 146 to capture the title from runner-up Kelvin Alexander.

Å COUNTY golfer Alex Allen was runnerup in the Shropshire & Herefordshire Men’s County Amateur Championships at Shrewsbury.

Allen, a junior player from Herefordshire GC, was the winner of the best afternoon round in the 36-hole event.

He shot 71-68 for a gross score of 139 and was runner-up to Hawkstone Park’s Tom Young, who topped the championship, which involved the best 50 amateurs in the county.
