MUCH Marcle’s Ann Barnes finished runner-up in the Women’s Band three event at Hereford Grand Prix’s tabletennis tournament.
Barnes also reached the semi-finals of the Women’s band two in the two-day competition.
In the band two event, which is open to players ranked 43 or lower in England, Barnes, who is ranked 111, came runner- up in her group and overcame Sam Meredith in the last-eight before bowing out to eventual winner Gosia Muda of Middlesex.
In the Band 3 event, open to players ranked 102 or lower, Barnes, who was top seed, finished second to Nicole Hall from Wales.
Herefordshire’s Harry Jutle also had a memorable weekend, gaining his qualification as a county umpire.
