CRADOC have staged two Turkey Trot Stableford events and the first was won by in-form Barrie Avery who scored 32 points from the 16 holes in play off his handicap of 17.

Behind him in the higher handicap category were Barry Griffiths on 27 (19) and Alex Morgan also 27 (16).

The lower handicappers were headed by Kishorkumar Gurung on 31 off 9, another in-form golfer Tony Bowkett 30 (10) and Mike Hudman 29 (11).

Bowkett was too good for the rest of the 79-strong field in the second one - but only just. He scored 34 points from the 16 holes in play off again off 10, seven-eighths of his handicap, beating Ceri Bradshaw off 11 and John Drain (4) on countback.

They were followed by three players on 33 points:- Steve Kenchington (6), Padam Gurung (6), and Gary Jenkins (19), the leader of the higher handicappers. Fifteen players recorded birdie twos.

Meanwhile things are hotting up at the summit of the Winter League after four of the scheduled 10 rounds.

No golfer out of the 70 participants has won all four rounds. So there are eight leaders currently on 16 points from either 3 wins and a defeat or two wins and two halves.

They are Bowkett, Terry Eckley, Wayne Gittoes, David James, M. Jones, Mark Pipes, Mark Ryland and Brian Popsys.

Other players competing for the trimmings were Stephen Bartholomew on 41 points, and Bruce Marshall, Harold Beach, Richard Escolme, Martin Lloyd and John Champion on 39.

They were followed in the pecking order by Steve Wallbank, Terry Jarrett, Stan Beale, Mike Talty and Neil Rodger with 38.
