HEREFORD boss Paul Caddis feels that his side have ‘let everyone down’ after they were dumped out of the FA Cup at the hands of Bishop’s Stortford.
Despite Yusifu Ceesay scoring the opening goal the Bulls conceded an equaliser from almost the half-way line and then twice in the second half.
Andy Williams pulled a goal back, but it was too little too late as the Bulls exited the lucrative competition.
“We’ve let everyone down,” said Caddis.
“I’ve just said that, collectively, myself, the staff and all the players, we’ve let the club down and we’ve let the supporters down.
“This club is steeped in history in the FA Cup. My emotions are a bit over the place and I’m trying to be calm with it before starting to say something I might regret.
“We’re bitterly disappointed.”
Defender Sammy Robinson thought he had scored an equaliser when Hereford were 2-1 down, but the referee ruled out his effort.
“The FA got into contact with us during the week about the goal last week (against King’s Lynn”, added Caddis.
“We’ll probably get another one about the goal that we’ve scored today. His reasoning (the referee) was that there was a block and Adam Rooney says his hands weren’t up.”
However, Caddis was left reflecting on Rashawn Scott’s long-range equaliser which caught Aaron Chapman off his line.
“Goals change games, it’s simple, an individual mistake and the boy scores from 40 yards, that swings the game,” added Caddis.
“That brought it to a level keel, we don’t quite recover for a little bit. It’s frustrating, at moments we played alright.
They scored (the second goal) 35 seconds into the half, you give yourself a mountain to climb and they get the third.”
