HEREFORD boss Paul Caddis has called for his side to be calmer after suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Needham Market.

The Bulls dominated the first half with Chay Tilt and Andy Williams both having efforts saved by goalkeeper Danny Callum.

However, they found themselves behind at half-time after Tevan Allen crossed for Jamie McGrath to bundle home the winner.

For their dominance in the first half Hereford were second best for large parts after the break.

Jacob Lay and McGrath both missed glorious opportunities for the visitors before the former also rattled the post.

Bulls’ goalkeeper Aaron Chapman also saved a Dan Morphen, but Hereford failed to find an equaliser.

“We came out in the second half and started playing back to front far too often,

“We were too rushed. I thought there was a period of 15 to 20 minutes where they (Needham Market) could have been four or five up.

“They had two really good chances, had a penalty and hit the post. We were a bit toothless at the top end and had no calmness in the second half at all.

“You’ve got to score when you’re on top (during the first half). We were brilliant between both boxes, but the game is won and lost in 36 yards and we lost the battle in both of them.”

Hereford return to action at Spennymoor this Saturday, before then hosting Ilkeston Town in the FA Cup on September 14.
