WESTFIELDS suffered a shock defeat against basement side Tuffley Rovers who ran out 1-0 victors at Allpay Park.
Westfields had beaten a Tuffley side 7-0 a few weeks ago at their Gloucestershire home but the visitors came for revenge.
Phil Glover’s side had a couple of good chances to take a first half lead but teenager Cameron Davies headed wide and then Joel Owusu missed the target when a goal seemed certain as the sides went into half-time goalless.
After the break Tuffley opened the scoring after Fields failed to deal with a left wing cross and Dan Lander bundled the ball home at the far post.
Westfields looking for a response and Harry Pitman saw his shot cleared off the line before Dan Stoneman had a penalty saved by Luke Merchant in the visitors’ goal after Josh Hunt had been brought down.
However, Fields failed to net an equaliser as Tuffley secured three vital points in their bid to avoid relegation.
Elsewhere, Hereford Pegasus suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Royal Wootton Bassett thanks to first half goals by Bailey Gallagher and Alfie Presley for the visitors.
Hereford Lads Club were also on the wrong-end of a 2-0 score-line at Fairford.
