HEREFORD manager Josh Gowling has sent a thank you message to fans after leaving by ‘mutual consent’ yesterday.

Reflecting on his three years as Bulls manager he said that he turned the side around from relegation candidates to narrowly missing out on the play-offs last season.

“I would just like to place on record a big thank you to everyone at Hereford FC. It’s been a fantastic four seasons with lots of highs,” Gowling said.

“My goal when taking over the football club was to leave the club in a better position than when I first came in, on and off the field. I would like to give a massive thank you to all my staff and players for their hard work and helping steer the club from relegation candidates to knocking on the door of  the play-offs.

“We had a trip to Wembley in the FA Trophy final along with finishing the highest league position in the club’s history.

“To top it off, this season we had the biggest game in the club’s history live on BBC against Portsmouth in the FA Cup.”

Gowling said he is most proud of the emergency of the Hereford under-18 side and also plans for a new college scheme.

“What I’m most proud of is that a lot of work has gone on behind the scenes to reintroduce the youth set up and a future college programme so that we can get young Herefordians in and around the first team,” added Gowling.

“This has already been a huge success and I would like to thank Jon Nash for all this hard work steering this.

“Lastly to the fans. There are so many amazing fans at this football club that have supported me throughout my tenure and I would like to say a big thank you to you all. I’m sure I will see you all again soon.”
