A SECOND half revival saw Westfields come from two goals down to rescue a 2-2 at home against Mangotsfield United.

Oli Jenkins headed home a right-wing corner to put the visitors ahead and then Jaydn Crosbie doubled the scoreline for United with an easy tap-in at the far post following Westfields’ inability to clear another right-wing corner.

Fields manager Phil Glover introduced Dan Stoneman and Adam Newbury at the break and then captain Sam Rawlings fired home from just inside the penalty area to give Westfields fresh hope.

When Stoneman was brought down inside the box Westfields had the chance to level but his penalty was saved by goalkeeper Jakob Glover.

Westfields maintained their pressure and got their reward when Stoneman’s cross was hammered home by Archie Muirhead to salvage a point.

Fields then went flat-out for the winner but it was at the other end where Matt Apperley made a superb full-length save to deny Mangotsfield a winner when he tipped a shot around the post.

In the opposite goal Glover produced another full-length save to end the game 2-2.

Fields have a tough challenge this weekend when they go to promotion chasing Cribbs at Bristol.

Elsewhere, Hereford Pegasus saw their game at Wantage Town postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and Hereford Lads Club were without a game.

Westfields were in County Cup action on Tuesday night when they progressed with a 6-0 victory over Bromyard Town.

The hosts opened the scoring after just three minutes when Joe Davies volleyed home after a corner was cleared.

Kyle Cassell doubled their lead on 19 minutes after a shot at the goalkeeper was fumbled into his path to double the hosts’ advantage.

Youngster Muirhead then struck twice inside five first half minutes firstly volleying into the net at the far post on and then tapping home his second after fellow striker Joel Owusu capitalised on a goalkeeper error to make it 4-0 at the break.

After the break Westfields made several changes and substitute Jack Gittoes made it 5-0 and then Dale Richards completed the win with a sixth goal in the final minutes.
