WESTFIELDS celebrated a convincing 6-0 victory in their match against Widemarsh Common neighbours Hereford Lads Club.

Visiting Fields were favourites coming into the game but almost went behind on 12 minutes when a free-kick was headed down into the box but Sam Rawlings was on hand to deal with the danger.

Three minutes later the visitors were ahead when Daniel Stoneman found Harry Pitman to fire home the opening goal.

Stoneman also provided the second goal on 23 minutes when his cross was met by Josh Hunt’s header to double their lead.

Lads Club were struggling to deal with the trickery of Stoneman who provided another cross for Hunt who this time headed wide.

Phil Glover’s side were turning on their style and Archie Muirhead found Matt Macdonald who cheekily back-heeled home a third goal.

Fields were out of sight with a fourth goal four minutes before the break with Pitman turning provider with a perfect ball into the box for Muirhead to guide home.

Steve Bell in the Lads Club goal was again kept busy after the break and was on hand to deny Hunt’s 66th minute strike.

However, two minutes later he was helpless when Joel Edwards guided his header from a corner home to make it 5-0.

Not content with the five goals Westfields continued to probe and eight minutes from time were rewarded a penalty.

Former Lads Club midfielder Adam Newbury stepped up to score his side’s sixth goal against his former club.

It could have been seven moments before the full-time whistle with Rawlings seeing his effort cleared off the line as Westfields were clear victors.
