YOUNG basketball stars in Hereford are flying high at the top of their league representing the city in style.

Hereford Hornets Basketball Club are the only community basketball team within Hereford.

The team represent Hereford in the South Midlands Youth Basketball League (under-15). They youngster face sides from Stourport, Gloucester, Worcester and Cheltenham.

After four games the Hereford Hornets sit top of their league winning three and losing one match and scoring 221 points in the process.

The Hornets face tough opposition from the Cheltenham Chargers who have won all three of their matches so far. The Chargers beat the Hornets 108-47 last weekend, but all is still to play for in the New Year.

The Hereford Hornets train at the Hereford Academy High School on Sunday between 10am and 1pm

The age groups are split with under-12s training 10am until 11am; under-15s 11am until noon and under-18s noon until 1pm.

Hereford Hornets also get involved with friendly matches and tournaments within the Midlands for all of their age groups. 

The club operates due to the help from our Basketball England Certified coaches, table officials and Volunteers who all play a major part in keeping the club functioning well.
