A DARTS player who lives on the Herefordshire border is chasing his dream of becoming a professional.

Chris Hurds, from Norton, has become the Newtown Premier Darts League champion for 2022 the latest during a successful year playing the sport.

After a fantastic season Hurds will now compete at the PDC Q school in January 2023 and then will compete against the very best of darting talents nationally on the Challenge Tour.

Hurds is aiming to win a PDC Tour card to enable him to follow his dream of becoming a professional darts player.

During 2021/22 season Hurds has become the Newtown Darts Organisation champion and Premier League Champion.

Hurds also won the Ray Guthrie Memorial Champion and was runner-up in both the Merthyr Open and Day 1 at the Cheshire Open. He was also losing quarter-finalist on Day 2 of the Cheshire Open.

He was also a losing finalist at the Don and Marie Jaques Pairs and all this culminating in a semi- final place at the National Champion of Champions held in Cardiff.

Hurds improved on his quarter-final finish in last year’s Newtown Darts Organisation (NDO) when he was beaten by champion Steve Price.
