HEREFORD manager Josh Gowling took his frustration out in the dressing room and said his side’s performance was ‘not acceptable’ after a 1-0 defeat at Bradford (Park Avenue).

A Jacob Blyth penalty five minutes from time separated the sides and sent Hereford to a first defeat in over a month.

“It was a poor game of football all around,” said Gowling.

“I don’t think we strung three passes together. I think we played the way they play which was direct and we didn’t look to get onto the ball at all.

“That just sums up the game, they haven’t had a shot all game and we give a penalty away and they win 1-0, very disappointing.

“My foot hurts a lot when you kick things in the dressing room. Look we've got a good bunch of lads here, it's an off day today, it's not acceptable as you don't want to lose to the bottom of the league which is a simple fact.

"Lately when we've played teams down there we've been ruthless and we weren’t today.

"They are disappointed in there, they were disappointed at half time. We've come out but we have not shown much in the second half to be honest.

"But I know with those boys they will want to be better.”

Hereford struggled on the artificial surface at Bradford and the lacked the killer instinct which led them to away victories at Bromley (2-1) and Boston United (4-2) in their last two games.

Gowling added: "I just feel when we got in areas to deliver, our deliveries weren’t good enough, our set plays weren’t good enough, I don't think we moved enough just generally the whole team to link things up from back to front.

"When we won balls we just turned over straight away and I think it's back down to earth for us.

"I think we've gone six games unbeaten, been pretty decent and now we've come here where you would expect us to kick on and we haven't.

"We were wasteful, getting into good areas but not delivering the ball, or we're not getting enough runners in the box, or gambling enough.

"Anybody, who watched that it was a very frustrating afternoon because that was awful.

"It was just a poor all-around performance. I would like to think we haven't had too many of them. But credit to them they beat Curzon Ashton last Saturday 2-1 so they've got a way of playing here. They’ve got a style of playing here, they slow things down and they get back behind the ball well.

"We're bitterly disappointed. It’s just a reset, you’re going to get this at this level, we’re at this level for a reason.”
