A HEREFORD school pupil is shooting for the stars after being selected to play basketball for Wales in his age group.

Bodhi Biggs is a year 10 pupil at the Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School and has made it into the Basketball Wales National Team for the second year in a row.

The young shooting guard was selected from the long-list of 70 hopefuls in trials at Aberystwyth followed by the shortlist of 24 which again competed for a coveted Wales shirt in Cardiff.

Biggs’ selection for the national team for a second-year builds on last year when Biggs was a member of the under-15 squad.

He earned his first Wales cap by playing for the country against Scotland in Dundee over a weekend of games.

Biggs also plays domestic basketball at the highest level. He plays his team basketball in Bristol Academy Flyers in the Under-16 Premier league which is the highest level of competition in the country.

The Hereford youngster has a huge year ahead of him as he continues his progression in basketball.

The Wales under-16 side will travel to Northern Ireland for a Four Nations tournament at Easter to face England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Great Britain selectors are due to be present to pick the squad to represent Great Britain at the European Championships in the summer of 2023.

Biggs has his ambitions on a coveted Great Britain place and earning a Wales shirt is one step towards his goal.
