Ross Tennis Centre crown club champions

ROSS Tennis Centre recently hosted their club championships when spectators were greeted to some exciting finals.

Sponsored by Tim Barnard of Errea Sport the finals were held on a beautiful autumnal day, with sunshine but a slight chill in the air.

The tournament, organised by Head Coach Steve Barnett, had around 40 members competing in the various rounds over the summer and the presentations were made afterwards.

The under-18 junior singles final was won by Charlie Bowden who beat Noah Meek in the final. The men’s singles competition was clinched by Rob Jordan-Deering with Neil Meek.

After losing in the junior final Noah Meek was back in action during the men’s singles plate being beaten by Tony Bowden.

Manda Kiernan was crowned ladies’ singles champion after beating Jackie Pelly in the final. Pelly was back in action during the mixed doubles final when her and partner Rob Jordan-Deering were beaten by Sandy Foulkes and Carl Orlans.

In the mixed doubles plate final Dave and Wendy Badham ran out winners against Tony Bowden & Liese Brady.

After finishing runner-up in the mixed doubles Jordan-Deering was back in action during the men’s doubles with partner Victor Ye beating Charlie Bowden and David Cartledge.

Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles plate Tony Bowden and Dan Horrocks won their final match against Andrew Churchill and Norbert Toth.

After winning the mixed doubles plate Badham was back in action during the ladies doubles final partnering ladies singles winner Manda Kiernan to victory, beating Sarah Bowden and Kelly James.
