A HEREFORD youngster impressed after being one of the ever showjumpers to qualify for three national finals.

Ivy Thomas-Cook, aged five, qualified her two ponies for the British Showjumping National Schools & Club finals which was held at Stoneleigh Park recently.

The final for those aged 16 and under in class 60 centimetres involved an initial round where only those that go clear, without knocking any barriers down, go through to the final jump off.

Thomas-Cook was one of 10 jumpers who went clear and went through to the final jump off where the fastest time and lowest faults wins.

The youngster finished eighth in the jump off where she was just slower than seven others mainly because of her age and the other riders being a lot older and more experienced.

Thomas-Cook attends Dilwyn Primary school and qualified two of her ponys ‘Whateva Trevor’ and ‘Will cross the Rocket’ for the event.

Whatever Trevor qualified for The British Showjumping Junior Club final earlier in the year and at just five years old is believed to be the youngest ever to do so.

She won the National Schools qualifier finishing first and second on both her ponys at Leyland Court Equestrian Centre in Bristol.

The result gave her a total of three tickets to jump at the British Showjumping National finals 2022.

Thomas-Cook also won the under-10 category at Hickstead the Longines Royal International Horse Show as she continues to take the showjumping scene by storm at such a young age.
