THE women members at Ross on Wye Golf Club have been enjoying a busy summer season of golf with the weekly Tuesday competitions, inter- club matches for our three ladies teams and summer knockout competitions.
On June 7, 32 ladies played in the 18 hole Individual Stableford.
Mary Smith was the winner with 35 points, closely followed by Dinah Johnson with 34 points and Sheila Hatherall in third place with 32 points on countback.
In the Back 9 hole Individual Stableford, 14 ladies played, with lady captain Ellie Teasdale coming first with 19 points.
The following week, 38 ladies played in the June Medal which was won by June Savidge with a nett 71.
Ten ladies played in the Back 9 hole June Medal which was won by Penny Caves with a nett 35, followed by Christine Downs in second place with a nett 37 on countback from Rosie Price in third place also with a nett 37.
The summer solstice competition on June 21, was an Individual stableford played by 38 ladies in perfect summer weather.
Nesta Hirst came first with an excellent 39 points, Allison Charles was a close second with 38 points and June Savidge was third with 37 points.
Twelve ladies played in the Front 9 hole Individual Stableford, which was won by Jill Sutton with 16 points, followed by Judith Landau in second place with 14 points on countback from Christine Down in third place also with 14 points
The Daily Mail and Club Foursomes saw Lois Price and Katie Stooke take first with an impressive 39 points.
