TWO young athletes from Hereford have been selected to represent Hereford & Worcester in the English Schools Track & Field Championships this weekend in Manchester.
Eva Tyler, aged 16, of Whitecross High School gained the qualifying standard running 25.2 seconds in the 200 meters and is currently ranked first in the West Midlands for her age group over the distance.
Matthew Brunnock, aged 17, of Hereford Sixth Form College also gained the standard in the 800 meters with a time of one minute and 53.73 seconds and currently ranked fourth in West Midlands.
Both are members of the Hereford & County Athletics Club.
Both Eva and Matt last reached the English Schools Nationals three years ago (pre Covid) along with fellow athlete Charlotte Colbert - Charlotte who was also selected to compete this year but will instead be competing in the Karate World Championships in Florida.
The English Schools Competition will take place this weekend over two days at Manchester Regional Arena and will include a parade of all 41 counties taking part.
