Nigel Fraser, club chairman and lead junior coach said: "They are local lads who all learned to row in Herefordshire and have been travelling to the major national rowing regattas to do well enough for the stewards of the regatta to allow their entry without having to take part in qualifying races.

"We heard this afternoon that they will be competing without the need for further qualification.

"Their first race will be on Tuesday, June 28 with timings to be confirmed.

"Their intention was to have an attempt in this competition next year as all are taking a year off between school and university, so that they could have a further year of training, but have been lucky enough to qualify a year ahead of plan. this bodes well for next years entry.

"It's been 20 years since the iconic stripes of Hereford Rowing Club have been seen at Henley and it coincides with the club celebrating 150 years.

"This has given the club a great boost after the last few years of floods and pandemic that have greatly impacted the club."
