A HEREFORDSHIRE girls side has celebrated a successful season which has been them clinch a league and cup double.

Ledbury Swifts under-12 girls have had a season to remember in the Herefordshire girls junior football league (HGFL) finishing the season unbeaten in 17 league matches winning 15 and drawing two.

The girls side continued their success by winning the HGFL futsal county cup.

In all competitions the side played 25 matches, winning 21, drawing three (one of those won on penalties) and lost just once (a cup semi final) scoring 113 goals in total.

The Ledbury Swifts under-12 side consists of a group of 16 players from school years 7 and year 6.

All of the girls are from Ledbury and surrounding villages.

The side now go into the summer season of tournaments where they hope to add to their silverware.

They are ran by the coaching team of Steve Phillips, Ellie Bates and Kim Welch who have all committed considerable time to helping the girls achieve their success.

The successful squad consists of: Stella Clarke, Grace Creed Newton, Beau Parfett, Tilly O’Boyle, Angela Meredith, Miah Heard, Amelia Elliott, Eden Meek, Eloise Tipton, Orla Coulter, Lilly Quinn, Poppy Baker, Holly Roberts, Grace Edwards, Amelia Phillips and Izzy Barnes.

Herefordshire junior football tournaments continued last weekend with Hereford Lads Club holding their event.
